Jam rock is used to describe any variety of a rock band which includes notable improvisational passages within tunes or instrumental «rocking out» as a key element to musical performance.
An example of this is «Welcome to Jam Rock» by Damian Marley. Many of these Jam Bands became popular in the late 90’s and early 00’s during the «Jam Revival.» Such bands include The Dave Matthews Band, Blues Traveler, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and Phish.
