What are the stages involved in getting a track from an audio CD into an MP3 file and then playing it?

Use a CD Ripper program such as WinDAC to copy the track from the audio CD onto your computer’s hard disk, creating a huge conventional WAV file. In some cases you then need to rename the file, for example from «Track 01» to the name of the artist and the track title. There might also be a facility to do this within the CD Ripper program.

Use an MP3 encoder program such as BladeEnc to convert the huge conventional WAV file to a reasonably-sized MP3 file. The huge conventional WAV file can then be deleted.

Use an MP3 player program such as WinAmp to play the MP3 file.
